As a child Shirley loved to draw and “colour in” and from a young age dabbled in oils. Choosing technical drawing at high school, Shirley moved away from art, concentrating more on sciences.
After attending evening art classes at Waikato Society of Arts a few years ago Shirley has returned to her love of painting and has become passionate about her art. She has since developed her own style and technique and now uses acrylic paints.

Many of the landscapes that Shirley has painted are from
photos she has taken while on holiday; in particular Hahei, National
Park and
Shirley loves how something beautiful can be created from a blank canvas and is thrilled that people can obtain pleasure and memories from the images she creates.
